We are saddled with the desire to perpetuate our species. That is not the same thing.

I get the feeling that plenty of people on this site have to settle for being content with a partner of the inflatable variety.

No, but some heterosexuals may feel that way.

George Loves Tacos: Mark 10

Mark 10:8 The two will become one flesh, so they are no longer two, but one flesh. Genesis 2:18 The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” Genesis 2:22 Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.

Your Word is a light to my roadway

God says a woman is a helper and a complement of her husband. That it was not good for man to continue alone on his own. God says even though an man and woman are two, they should be one.

I know people can be happier when they are in love. It feels like something is missing without it. I think if you don't end up with the right person, a relationship can be disappointing, and not everyone's personalities mesh well with each other. Sometimes people can be their own worst enemy in a relationship, just because they mistreat people and they sabotage their own happiness. You can't expect yourself to be happy with just anyone. I don't believe in soul mates, but I do believe in more compatible personalities, and a person can be compatible with more than one person on this earth. We need to be faithful with who we pledge ourselves to, because love shouldn't just be some word that comes out of our mouths, but there should be truth behind it. Love should be enduring. There's definitely something great about finding the right person, but marriages are ultimately temporary things, because eventually someone is going to die and there's no giving or taking of marriage in heaven... except when God pledges Himself to His people for all eternity. The Bible informs us that in the presence of God there is fullness of joy. So if we are not experiencing the fullness of joy right now, it might just be because it is yet to come, at least for those who have placed their lives in God's hands and have trusted in His salvation, belonging to Him by calling upon His name for the forgiveness of sins. And He forgives any person for all their sins, wiping their slate clean entirely.
