1970 = 20th century 2000, 2001, and 2009 = 21st century Anyone who went to high school knows this.

The 20th century lasted from the beginning of 1901 to the end of 2000. So you and your parents are from the 20th century and your siblings the 21st. Some people don't seem to understand it takes 1000 years for 1000 years to go by, not 999 years. So the 1st millennium lasted from day 1 year zero A.D. (Jan 1st on our calendar) to Dec 31st of the year 1000. The second millennium started Jan 1st 1001 and ended Dec 31st 2000.
