Why did I loose all my favorites?

Yahoo no longer stores your bookmarks unless you save them on My Yahoo. You don't have to save them on Yahoo when there is a facility for that right in your browser. Use the bookmarks or favorites menu to save them: https://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000858.htm
