There are limits to the size and weight. There are different limits depending on whether it is a carry-on bag that you're bringing on the plane with you or a checked bag that will be going in cargo. Check your airline website for details. But otherwise, it doesn't matter if it's a tote bag, suitcase, duffel bag, garment bag, etc.- as long as it meets the size and weight rules.

Most types of luggage are accepted, it is the size and weight of your luggage, that could mean it's not accepted. Carry on is normally smaller and often weight restricted much more than checked luggage.
