Snowboard binding pattern?

I'm completely new to snowboarding, but I found a snowboard that has a mounting pattern of 2x4. Would a standard 4 hole pattern binding fit that board? I'm just confused by the different names. Would a 4 hole pattern also fit a 4x4 mounting pattern? Thanks.
