NOLS WFR certification worth it?

I'm out in the wilderness a lot and want to start some expeditions in the wild i feel some basic first aid is good. i'm always a little extra but was thinking it coudln't hurt to do the WFR course instead of WFA. is it worth it?

Do the barbed fins of catfish that can pierce skin have any type poison or venom?
