Does this sentence make sense
"As we can see from this video, it seems that all ducklings have it hard, and not only the so-called 'ugly duckling'..."
And does the following sentence sound better than the former:
"As we can see from this video, it seems that life is hard for all ducklings, and not only for the so-called 'ugly duckling'..."

Both sentences are fine. I actually prefer the first one, depending on how the sentence will be used, since the first version is more casual.
