Why are people so afraid of human extinction?

I mean, death is a natural occurence in all living beings, so why fear extinction?

Who's afraid of that? When human extinction eventually happens, it will be thousands or even millions of years from now, so why worry?

Humans are loathe to give up immortality. The philosopher Henri Bergson wrote in his book, ‘Creative Evolution’ (1907): ‘Life is like a current passing from germ to germ through the medium of a developed organism. It is as if the organism itself were only an excrescence, a bud caused to sprout by the former endeavouring to continue itself in a new germ’.

Because being afraid is a humane thing to do.

Human extinction is the best thing that could happen to this planet.

There is nothing in the Bible that indicates human extinction. On the contrary it is God's heavenly Kingdom arrangement that will carry out God's purpose for a perfect new world of humankind to occupy a paradise earth, as he originally intended. Psalm 37:10, 11 promises: Just a little while longer, and the wicked will be no more; You will look at where they were, And they will not be there. 11 But the meek will possess the earth, And they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace."
