I don't see anything wrong with that at all. I've known plenty of only children, and they all turned out just fine. But be prepared to put up with an endless parade of stupid if you choose to actually voice your desire to only have one kid. So many people seem to think that there's something wrong with only having one.

For society yes, it is fine. Because resources are limited and the population grows exponentially. Of course societies are different too. For example in third world countries it is so fine. But in first world countries it is not so important But I myself want to have 4 kids; 2 sons and 2 daughters. Because the boys will be brother of themselves and of their sisters; and the girls will be sister of themselves and of their brothers Also when they are married and have their own children, the girls will be both paternal and maternal aunts; and the boys will be both paternal and maternal uncles.
