How do I make my ferret remember me when I give him away? I will still be visiting him sometimes.?

Maybe put something with your scent will make him/her remember you like a teddy or a toy rib it on you before putting in the cage then it will remember your scent and remember you

I have no idea about ferrets and their 'memories' but if they are fed, watered and otherwise looked after, I'd imagine they just get on with life. And don't go visiting. If he's like a dog, he needs a clean break not to have you turning up and going away all the time. This is about the well-being of the animal, not you.

There is no way. If you haven't had him very long he'll forget all about you. The person you're dumping this ferret on is going to ALLOW you to visit???

Once you give him away he's not yours. Most people won't let you 'visit'.

Yes they do remember you scent if you have had themfor s long time, if only s couple mine they won't really remember you, unless you were super attentive and active with them. Keep in mind most were bred and rwised, go to some shop or dsomething wore, are there for a while, go to another home, get settled in and then back to the store, yet another handler and finally romyou. Usually by the time most people buy their pets from a pet shop they have been through st least 6 sets of hands, that's why it this so long for pocket pets to settle down and recognize their permanent owners. The exception to this is people thwt breed them in their home, hand rear them and put them up for adoption or sale. If you rcently gave him away try and make a clean break from him for at least 6 months to give him bond time and not confuse him. They can get lonely and miss their openers, stop eating end go through ferret depression, not esnting tomplsy nor int tested in their humans, but there usually ones that have been disrupted many times and never settled in a home longer then a couple months. Once he's se toed isn't and in a routine there wouldn't be much of a problem visiting, he say remember you and get all excited or simply not recognize you because of all her short time homes he had previously. Don't take it personally, it's similar that you transferring from school to school every 2 times 5 months, how many lifetime friends would you make at each school that you kept for life? Msybr one or two if that, it's hard keeping friends if you keep moving around... oh yea, you can't keep in context by phone or writing or can it, just whenever you meet up with them Starting up immediately agein when the bond you had years ago, with them... then that numbers nill. So don't get your hopes up, if he remembers you great but chances are strongly he won't remember you after several months go by.
