Could my window crack if I heat it using a blow dryer?

So I'm currently caught in the middle of this insane arctic front, and it's 50 below outside. My windows are freezing over around the edges, and I thought I could use a blow dryer to heat them up and melt the ice. But I've heard that if you rapidly go from hot to cold, especially unevenly, then glass could fracture. Could this happen?

Don't do it. Frost on the windows won't hurt them; your blow dryer will.

What exactly would you accomplish by melting the ice? It will still be COLD outside and your windows will freeze AGAIN.

Yes, it could happen, if you apply too much heat too quickly and anyway, what's the point of melting the ice? It will just come back.

Yes don’t do it.

Don't do it, the glass might crack.

Actually, the ice acts to insulate the windows. Melting it will allow MORE heat to escape.
