I need to be able to pop open my mask and have it hold itself up until I want to lower it again. How can I do this?
I m making a costume that has a mask resting on my forehead area. What I want to do is to be able to lift my mask, revealing a second mouth underneath, but I dont want to continue holding it up. I want it to "pop" into place. A lot like how the freezer doors in grocery stores pop into place when you open them so you don t have to hold them while your grabbing groceries. I was thinking that I d need to use a hinge and something..... but I can t seem to take this thought any further on my own.
Thanks for the help!

My idea was basically the same as Jeff D's.

Take a look at welding masks. They have a mechanism to hold them open (when not welding). Perhaps you can copy or use such a mechanism.

I can’t think of anything that would be light weight enough. Perhaps look at purse fixtures., My thought would be Velcro to hold it in place

All I know is that a rubber band is involved.
