Which is more expensive to install a floor to ceiling shower. A prefab unit or just tiling the walls and floor?

Tiling is more expensive in not only materials, but the labor as well. And, you will have to hire a professional to get the job done correctly as the last thing you want is leaks that damage your home and any ceilings or walls below the bathroom. I would prefer tile, myself, if the budget allows. However, it is more economical to have a prefabbed unit installed.

the modern way is preformed plastic panels atop a shower base. These are cut to exact size, glued in place, and the seams closed with a caulk type product. Installing this is far cheaper than doing tile walls in the shower [which is very labor intensive]. flooring can be done separately in whatever material fits your budget and DIY capability
