If you have a contact prescription for 1-day, can you use the same prescription to get a monthly?

Hello! If I have a prescription for a 1 day lens, but decided I want to get monthly instead, can I still use the prescription? Or do I have to get new prescription specifically for the monthly?

A contact lens prescription contains brand, base curve, diameter and power. If you are in the US, they can't legally sell you contacts unless you have a complete prescription. By brand, we mean specific type. For example, Air Optix and Aqua Comfort Plus Dailies would be considered different brands even though they are both made by Alcon. Your prescription for monthly lenses will be very similar to your prescription for dailies. You can't legally buy them without help from your eye doctor.
