I think I have some form of anxiety disorder but I don't know what kind?
I've always been very type A and anxious about certain things, but more recently I've been experiencing almost compulsion-like behavior. For example, I take showers at night, and if I fall asleep before I take one, I'll end up taking one at ridiculous hours in the morning. If I don't, I'll feel stressed and anxious and I won't be able to fall back asleep. There are a few more things like this, but showering is the most common and severe. I don't want to call it OCD because it's nowhere as severe or debilitating, but I don't know what else it could be. I want to understand what's going on with me and how I can work on it. If you have any advice I'd be really appreciative!

It sounds like you have an underlying anxiety problem that has become overwhelming. Sometimes people develop OCD traits, but they do not have the disorder. It also could be an emerging OCD disorder. I would recommend trying to figure out what has changed lately and looking at that. If nothing is different, then you could start by taking long deep breaths. . . holding your breath and slowly letting it out several times. This will calm down you parasympathetic system, and allow you to be calm. If you cannot learn to control your anxiety and stress, then you may think about making an appointment with a professional.
