taking notes in a notebook is absolutely more environmentally friendly providing the notebook is sustainability produced. Laptops require a lot of natural resource to produce and global a distribution network for their components. They are also damaging to the environment when they are disposed. In comparison a notebook has a much smaller carbon footprint. Another plus for the notebook is that you remember more notes which you write by hand so you will probably learn more

I feel like it would be taking notes on a laptop since you wont be adding anything to the environment since its done digitally. But recycling it won't damage the environment, either.
