Is it normal for your pinky to bruise when you play the French Horn?

I’m a beginning French Horn player and my pinky often bruises when I play for awhile. Is this normal? I’m I meant to have a pinky of steal, or am I doing something wrong? I would ask my band director, but last time I asked a similar question, he just told me to ask my lesson teacher. I would be fine with this, if it wasn’t for the fact that today is Wednesday; I meet my private teacher on a Sunday. Really, all I’m trying to say is that I’m impatient, and I want to be told right now. I would really appreciate an answer, thank you.
