What is a financial aid refund and how do you you get it?

Financial aid funds are first applied to your school's charges (tuition, fees, room and meal plan, etc.). If you have money left over after the bill is paid, then it is refunded to you. Whether you receive a refund or not depends on the amount of aid that is awarded to you and the cost of your school. Many students do not receive a refund because all of their aid is needed to pay the bill. You are most likely to receive a refund if your family is low income (so you qualify for higher levels of aid) and you attend a low cost school.
