Is there any financial aid you can get at 55 years old?
Zheia
It depends because loans are written off after 30 years, and the state could be left with any unpaid debt.

Aside from other eligibility criteria concerning income, family size, etc., you must be a "regular student in a regular program" to receive financial aid. If you plan to get a certificate or degree, you would fit that criteria. If you are taking photography classes at the local CTC just to get better at taking photos, but are not enrolled in classes that make your classes part of some sort of degree/certificate, then you would not meet the criteria, and would not qualify for financial aid.

There is no age limit for federal student aid. If you complete the FAFSA (the Free Application for Federal Student Aid) your school will let you know what types of aid you qualify for. If you are low income, you may qualify for some grant aid, but at the very least you will qualify for some federal student loans.

Of course. Financial aid for college isn't based on your age. You'd fill out the FAFSA (free to complete) to see what you might qualify for. Many people your age will want to be cautious of taking out too much in student loans for education. You'd need to calculate if the bump you'll get in earnings, based on the degree you get, will outweigh any loans you might take out. Just be cautious.

Yes, but the type depends on whether you are an undergraduate or graduate student

Have you filed a FAFSA yet? It will tell you if you qualify for a government grant or loan. Otherwise, there are scholarships out there for older adults.
