Is it clever to look at the list of menu of restaurant, or is it better and healthy to freely sit and ask the waiter after for a food?
Alan
If you don't look at the menu, how will you know what they are serving up? The waiter has no idea what your tastes are.

I had a friend who would go in and tell them, "surprise me". It was a power play, and often seen as being obnoxious. If you don't understand the menu, or wish to ask for the chef's specialty, that is different, but just going in and telling them to feed you could result in some very bad food. It depends upon how well you are liked by the server, and puts them in a bad position.

I wouldn't exactly call it "clever" to read a menu. I'd call it normal procedure.

It's better & smarter to ;ool at the menu.
Pearl
either way is okay
Clive
Of course you look at the menu. If you ask for a recommendation, the waiter could end up recommending something the restaurant is trying to get rid of because nobody wants it.

It makes sense to read the menu. After reading the menu it also makes sense to ask the server for his/her recommendations or something specific about some of the items on the menu.
