According to the RODE web site, the USB connecting mics currently available are the "Podcaster" and NT-USB. Both are large diaphragm mics. The NTG series of mics are all XLR connecting mics... including the NTG1, NTG2, NTG3, NTG4, NTG4+ and NTG8. All are condenser mono mics. There is no "NTG-U" mic at the RODE site and seaching that term does not get a hit. I searched the term "stranded USB mic" and got no RODE hits. Clarification on your part is needed to fully understand your environment. We also don't know what the mics are recording and their proximity to each other. If the USB mics are plugged into different USB ports of your computer and the mics are close to each other, then mono audio from left and right will be recorded. you can split the track into stereo, and pan, but it won't sound much different. The computer - and Audacity are not mixers. The computer records; Audacity can manipulate the audio it gets. If you are using the NTG series condenser mics, it would be much better to put a mixer between the mics and the computer. Connect the mics with an XLR cable to the mixer, connect the mixer to the USB port of the computer... Read up on "X-Y configuration" to understand how to orient the mics. I use a little Alesis Multimix USB FX.
Jeremy: Full Question
Full Question: So I want t try ASMR recordings. I have two NTG-U Rode microphones that are stranded USB mics. I am audio testing now, using audacity and voicemeter. My main issue is this. With both mics running I cant seem to figure out how to record a left and right configuration with my two mics. It all sounds like one stereo sound or one sounds coming out evenly. Is there any way, using these two mics, I can a L-R recording while recording only once.
