Why is my record player playing too fast on 33?

Extract from another site, relating to speed calibration of a similar model. (The original was about the speed being too low, but the adjustment location is the useful bit. Original link at the end) ---------- I messed around w/ it a little and found a solution. Take the turntable out of the unit & you will find a small circuit board attached to the bottom. On that board is a small square blue fixture w/ a white circular "dial" in the middle (has grooves to accept a small straight blade or a phillips screw driver). This controls the voltage to the motor, which in turn controls the motor RPM's. ------------------ http://www.fixya.com/support/t22513988-museum_thomas_series_record_player_runs

My feeling is that there is a way to adjust the turntable speed. If you could find a service manual on line in PDF format the answer on how to adjust should be in that manual...If not you may try taking the bottom cover off the unit while unplugged and observe with a flash light and magnifying glass to see if you can locate an adjustment screw...Its possible that the adjustment screw is recessed and not clearly visible but if you look into screw holes with a flashlight and magnifying glass you may be able to locate it ...More than likely an adjustment screw will not be phillips but will be slotted also more than likely it will be plastic and not metal ....Then through trial and error try to adjust to the correct speed.

An audio repair shop should be able to help you.

Just one of many reasons why vinyl sucks. Even the lowest bit rate crappiest MP3 will always play back at the correct speed.
