The only other program i can think of would be iFunbox. Though, it might require iTunes installed on the PC for some features.

On a mac, it'll show an icon of the device once plugged in. Double click to open the folders. Windows requires either itunes (if it's installed) OR it'll show it as a removable device. Double click to open the file manager to view the devices contents. GNU/Linux, your device will give you a prompt, hit okay or yes to grant access, and folders will be shown in the file manager's window (if not, you'll have to launch said file manager, or double click the devices icon. Two icons will show up, however it won't matter which one you click on).
