Do I need to have insurance and valid registration for car storage ?
May
That depends on the storage facility. Most require comprehensive insurance coverage. Most do not require valid plates (registration)

that depends, the car storage company may say you need insurance, if you are paying off a loan you may need full insurance
Bertsta
You only need rego and insurance to use the vehicle on the road.

If it is still being financed, yes. If you own it outright, it depends on local statutes and zoning laws. Generally speaking, an unregistered car must either be garaged or parked out of sight from the street behind a barrier. A commercial storage yard is legal. But why put up with the hassle? If you don't use it, sell it. There are others you can buy when you need it.

Generally, yes. I have to do the same for my boat storage.

You need insurance IF you have a valid registration - cancel registration then cancel the insurance and all is good....store forever....

Not if it is indoors in private property.
