Yes. If ANY damage contact the owner & your insurance company & let them sort it out. No insurance then you're liable. Of course you may have been in the right. Dont know if you were? Time to read up on laws of collision at sea. NOW. Also the rest of the boating regs.

yes, your not supposed to hit things with your boat. it's a vehicle just like a car, your not supposed to hit things with it.

It happens all the time. A gentle bump? No one cares. Driving into someone side on at 40 knots? Big problems.

Treat it like you were in a car accident. Insurance, liability, etc. From what I hear boating and car accident are treated the same.
