Head of household, standard deduction is $18,000, taxable income $14,000. Income tax is $1,411. Child tax credit is $2,000. You get your $800 back. You may also get part of the remaining $589 child tax credit and also some EIC,but at a quick glance at the instructions I don't know how much, if any.

Based on the instructions for the 1040 and the included tax tables, your tax liability is about $2000 and you say you only paid $800.
