Really confused with this recruitment agency I feel like they have lied to me?
Tavy
The Manager did not want to tell you direct that there were other candidates so passed it over to the Recruiter. This is what happens. No one lied to you. This is the system.
Michael
Somebody they liked better came along, or the manager you talked to wasn't the guy who ultimately got to make the decision. Either way, the recruitment agency has no incentive to lie to you. Typically, recruitment agencies only get paid if they place someone, so unless the company ended up hiring a different candidate the recruitment agency identified, they're just as bummed over this as you are.
Judy
No. Things can change, and something did. Sounds like after the manager talked to you, they found someone who more closely met their needs.

No. If you were given the interview through a recruitment agency, they handle the entire process. They may have had several qualified candidates for the position. Time to move on to the next one.

When a recruiter is in the middle, they stay there.

No, the Recruiter is not lying to you. You were not selected for the role. I work in HR and I partner with Recruiters very often to fill open positions. When I work with a Recruiter, I leave all the communication between me and the candidate to the Recruiter. I would never contact the candidate directly. The hiring manager may have said that he'd be in touch, but he was likely saying that as a courtesy. Sorry!

Get used to it if you are job hunting, people interviewing, employers. recruitment agency will say anything......fact is you have not been employed, not been offered a job, haven't signed a contract so until you do keep looking regardless of what is told you to.......... the employer could have told the recruitment agency the post is filled...the employer could be filling it from 2nd interviews so it is no longer available unless you are part of that 2nd interview process
