Is my lip piercing infected?
Originally, I thought it hurt because it was but it turned out my piercer put in too small of a bar. Now, they put in a longer bar, but I still see some symptoms that lead me to believe there are problems. It doesn t hurt, but there is some weird raised skin on the inside of my mouth and some red dots around the skin. Some things say it s because I ve changed how I eat to avoid irritating the piercing and it s caused the skin inside my mouth to become irritated (there s raised skin in my cheeks too), but I just need to make sure.

Raised skin? They’ll always be some form of indent if you have a flat back on the inside of your lip but I’m confused as to what you mean by that and red dots. As long as the pus isn’t dark and it’s not in a huge amount of pain you should be fine. A lot of people have to go back in for a longer bar. My lip piercing took a couple weeks for the swelling to go down, and my tounge took about 5 days.
