Ear Piercing infection?

So I got this helix piercing last March/ April and it was like infected, then it wasn t at all, then infected then wasn t like a few times but this ones worse now. It s swelling, bit painful and there was like pus and I had to take it out! I know but I felt like the piercing just made it worse. So now it s still swollen and painful, and there s like a tiny bump. So I was just wondering what s the bets way for it to heal without getting the infection stuck inside when healing?? Thank you
